The Beginning

This all started with a simple link. My boyfriend, Mickey, sent me a link to a little theater company in western Nebraska. They didn't even have a website of their own and they were using a Nebraska arts website. So I sent in my stuff (video of monologue and song, headshot, resume) and, to make a long story short, I got the role of Nellie in South Pacific and Caitlin in Over the River and Through the Woods. (Which, coincidentally, takes place in Hoboken--of all places!)

So it was settled. We were spending the summer in Nebraska. We decided on driving out so we'd have easy transportation once we got there. Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Home of the Scottsbluff National Monument and not far from the Oregon Trail. It would be a change. A big change. And it would be just what we needed.

We immediately knew that staying in Pittsburgh would be a perfect first stop. Then continuing on to Ohio, Indiana, a side stop in Michigan, Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis. From Minneapolis we'd go to the Black Hills and visit Mount Rushmore. Then it would be time for Nebraska and Rodgers and Hammerstein.

At the end of July, when are contracts will be up, we'll head west. Denver, Great Salt Lake, Yosemite, Coeur d'Alene, Seattle, Portland, San Fran, L.A., Vegas, Grand Canyon, Roswell, Austin, Houston (the place of my birth), Nawlins, Nashville, Wilmington, Washington DC, Baltimore and then, finally, Hoboken.

So that's the start. We're looking for a sublet and quitting our jobs--and going West.
